Meet Our Owner
Sarah is passionate about health and well-being, for humans and pets alike!
Originally from Missouri, Sarah has called Central Connecticut home for over twenty years, having moved here for a job with ESPN in 2004.
As Zen Pet Care’s owner, Sarah spends most of her days welcoming new clients, recruiting pawsome employees, managing schedules and reservations, and supporting our operation as a whole.
Sarah covers dog walkers and pet sitters when they are unavailable and leads employee training, team events, and community outings.
When she isn’t working, Sarah enjoys exercising, trying new vegan restaurants, and traveling. She frequents the Farmington Valley’s many beautiful hiking and walking trails and is passionate about improving the lives of animal lovers.
Sarah shares her life with Chance, a rescued German Shepherd, and is dedicated to supporting animal welfare in Greater Hartford and beyond.
Jen
Pet Care Professional
Jen is a Connecticut native who grew up taking care of her family’s three cats. She enjoys spending time with animals and loves getting to know their unique personalities. Jen currently lives in East Granby with her husband and their large rescue pup Bergie, and she’s hoping to add a kitty (or two) to the family soon.
Maisie
Pet Care Professional
Maisie is an avid animal lover who shares her life with three dogs and one cat. She volunteered at a local animal shelter for three years before joining the Zen Pet Care team. Maisie recently completed a dog training certification from CATCH Canine Trainers Academy, and enjoys watching her sons fence and play hockey.
Elaina
Pet Care Professional
Elaina is a business major who grew up in New Hartford. She had two cats and a dog when she was young, and over time she’s added a golden retriever and five cats. She is passionate about animals, which drew her to Zen Pet Care. She’s now based in Collinsville and is excited to take care of dogs and cats in Canton and the surrounding towns!
Jessica
Pet Care Professional
Jessica is a lifelong passionate animal lover. She grew up with cats, dogs, hamsters, bunnies and other animals, and she loves being outdoors and hiking, especially with a furry companion. After she and her husband welcomed their first child in 2017 she became a stay-at-home mom, but now that he’s in school she’s excited to venture back into the workforce doing something she loves. For the past decade she has fostered animals for numerous shelters and rescues, and she has become deeply involved with two local rescues in Granby and Simsbury, gaining valuable knowledge and skills. Her house is full of animals, including three cats, a big goofy dog and 20 chickens!
Alex
Pet Care Professional
Alex, a former journalist who grew up in Connecticut, has always had multiple pets in his life. Over the years, he and his wife Carolyn have had an adopted a Siamese cat from Arizona, a rescue greyhound from California and a rescue street dog from Texas, to name a few. (They also have three adult children.) They live in Avon with the Dread Pirate Westley, a goofy (and lovable) Bernedoodle, and Mad Max, a fiendishly handsome Siamese mix.
